Park City’s Haley Batten takes silver medal in Olympic mountain biking

Park City’s Haley Batten won an Olympic silver medal in women’s cross-country mountain biking on Sunday in Elancourt, France, claiming the first medal for a Utahn in the 2024 Paris Summer Games.

Pauline Ferrand Prevot, of France, won the race of just under 20 miles in 1 hour, 26.02 seconds, 2:57 ahead of Batten. Jenny Rissveds, of Sweden placed third.

The 25-year-old Batten overcame a flat tire (fortunately near U.S. mechanics) and charged in the second half of the race to take the silver medal.
