Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to rally at Salt Lake City club for independent presidential campaign
Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. — who has spent years advocating against vaccines, according to The Associated Press — is making a campaign stop in Salt Lake City this week.
The 2024 candidate is a son of the late Sen. Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of President John F. Kennedy, and he’s stopping in Utah as part of his bid to get on the ballot in all 50 states.
“Normally, independent candidates pay companies millions of dollars to gather signatures,” Kennedy said in a news release. “We’re taking a different route that starts with our thousands of volunteers in every state.”
At the rally, voters can add their signatures to the ballot petition, the release said.
The event is happening Thursday at Sky SLC, a nightclub at 149 W. Pierpont Ave., from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Earlier this month, Utah Jazz legend John Stockton offered his support to the candidate, who is known for spreading misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic and vaccines.
Stockton and Kennedy co-starred in an anti-vaccine documentary contradicting scientific facts, The Salt Lake Tribune reported.
