2 more snowstorms are coming. When will they arrive?

After a respite from the snow on Wednesday, another storm will blow into Utah on strong winds late Thursday. And yet another storm is expected to arrive late Saturday and continue into next week, according to the National Weather Service.

In Salt Lake City, there will be sunny skies and highs in the mid-40s on Wednesday, and it will be even warmer on Thursday — in the upper 40s. That’ll be the warm before the storm, however, and that storm will be preceded by a high wind advisory that will be in effect from noon Thursday until 1 a.m. Friday.

South winds of 25-35 mph are expected, with gusts up to 55 mph, in the Salt Lake Valley, Tooele Valley, Rush Valley, the Great Salt Lake desert and mountains, western Millard and Juab Counties and southwest Utah. Blowing snow could affect visibility, and power outages are possible. Strong crosswinds may impact travel for high profile vehicles, especially along Interstate 80, U.S. 6 and U.S. 50 in western Utah.

Expect rain before 2 a.m. on Friday, changing over to snow — which could be heavy at times. There’s a 90% chance of snow, with accumulations of less than an inch in the Salt Lake City area.

Higher accumulations are expected at higher elevations. According to the Utah Avalanche Center, there is “considerable” avalanche danger in the mountains near Salt Lake City, Provo, Ogden and Logan, and in the Uintas.

There’s an 80% chance that the snow will continue through the Friday morning commute, with 1-2 inches complicating travel. The wind will continue to blow — 17-23 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph.

Daytime highs in the mid-30s are expected on Friday, reaching the low 40s on Saturday and Sunday, with overnight lows near 20 on Friday, near 30 on Saturday and in the mid-20s on Sunday.

Normal high temperatures for this time of year are in the low to mid-40s; normal lows are in the upper 20s.

Another storm is expected to arrive late Saturday, with a slight chance of rain changing to snow. There’s a chance of more rain and snow on Sunday, and still more snow on Monday.

The forecast is considerably more pleasant for southern Utah. Temperatures in the low to mid-50s are expected through the weekend in St. George. There’s a 30% chance of rain on Thursday night and a 50% chance on Friday morning.

The Cheesecake Factory to open a new location in Utah County

A new restaurant is coming to Orem — one that will be familiar to Salt Lake County diners. The Cheesecake Factory has announced that it’s opening a new location at University Place mall, at 575 E. University Parkway, this fall, according to a news release. This will be the upscale casual dining establishment’s first location in Utah County. The restaurant, which is known for its huge menu with more than 250 items and more than 30 cheesecakes, will be located next to Dillard’s and Itto Sushi, the release stated.
